Infinite Galaxy

If the universe really is infinite, there must be alien life in existence. I know it's been documented that there were fossils found on Mars, that did not belong to any humans. What are your thoughts?

It seems like it would be a waste of space for nothing else to be alive out there except us.

I am not very sure about the discovery of fossils on mars...I'd have to look that up whether it was verified. However, your point is very much valid. In case the universe is infinite, it would also mean that there is an infinite number of intelligent civilizations as mathematically, this would be the chance of an intelligent civilization existing in an infinite universe.
